Castlegar Community Garden Year two (2008) of the garden was once again a big success with numerous community members receiving produce from the garden, either directly or indirectly. This season saw a wait list of 5 for beds. 2 canning workshops were held in August at Kootenay Family Place. Special thanks to Columbia Basin Trust and City of Castlegar.
Castlegar Community Garden Expansion Thanks to Evergreen – Home Depot Rebuilding Nature Grant Program, the garden expansion project created an additional 17 raised beds at the October work party. The addition includes 4 special height and size beds for easier access to those with mobility aids. The 34 raised beds are ready for use next year and are already getting booked. Please contact Sandi for more information or to reserve space. Thank you to all the volunteers who made this project possible with their 192 volunteer hours. Special thanks to the City of Castlegar, Council and Public Works for their support via equipment and operator, and Kalesnikoff lumber for donating the wood. More project information and photos at
